ITS Australia Announce TCA as Official Demonstrations Partner for the 23rd Annual ITS World Congress

July 2015

Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Australia has today announced Transport Certification Australia (TCA) as the official demonstrations partner for the 23rd annual ITS World Congress, to be held in Melbourne from 10-14 October 2016.

Developed by the ITS World Congress Demonstrations Committee, the Call for Demonstrations are currently being shortlisted, with expected official demonstrations to be announced later this year at the 22nd annual ITS World Congress in Bordeaux, France.

“ITS Australia is pleased to be partnering with TCA for the demonstrations component of the World Congress. This exciting part of the program provides a great opportunity for delegates to experience the latest mobility technologies,” said ITS Australia Chief Executive Officer, Susan Harris.

Chris Koniditsiotis, TCA Chief Executive Officer added “TCA is delighted to be continuing a fruitful relationship with ITS Australia, putting the future of this technical enabling capability on the national agenda.

“As a national government body supporting the growing use of telematics and related intelligent technologies, TCA is uniquely positioned to coordinate practical, real-world demonstrations for the Congress,” Mr Koniditsiotis said.

Centring around Enhancing Liveable Cities and Communities, the congresses theme focuses on key issues in transport, including challenges and opportunities of big open data, smart cities and new urban mobility, vehicle and network safety, environmental sustainability, cooperative and automated vehicles, mobile applications, future freight, and policy, standards and harmonization.

Six months since the official call for demonstrations, ITS Australia is delighted by the innovation and diversity of responses received during the call. While these applications are being evaluated, late applications will still be considered.

Those interested in applying should complete and submit an application form as soon as possible to support evaluation and delivery of a successful demonstration.

Hosted in the world’s most liveable city, Melbourne will be hosting the demonstrations in first class facilities, including the Grand Prix circuit around Albert Park Lake, a short 10 minute drive from the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.
