21 November 2013

ITS Australia has launched its international ambassador program to help promote the 23rd Intelligent Transport systems World Congress to be held 10 to 14 October in Melbourne, Australia.

The ITS World Congress and its complementary exhibition to be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre is expected to attract more than 5000 delegates to the capital that has been a regular winner of “the world’s most liveable city” title.

ITS Australia Chief Executive Officer Susan Harris said the 2016 ITS World Congress will bring the world’s leading transportation, infrastructure and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS*) academics and executives to Melbourne.

“In addition to ITS businesses, the Congress attracts the full range of industry stakeholders, including academia, business and private users of the technologies, and government officials. Scores of international colleagues have already expressed strong interest in visiting Melbourne.

“We are grateful to have the support of a growing network of high profile Ambassadors from around the globe who are committed to working with us to promote the 23rd World Congress,” said Susan Harris.

International marketing support

To help lead the organisation of the event, ITS Australia has appointed international event management company MCI to the role of Professional Conference Organiser. “ITS Australia welcomes the global MCI group to the 2016 World Congress team. MCI Australia Managing Director Stephan Wurzinger said the company’s ITS industry experience will benefit the 2016 World Congress in Melbourne. “This is a rapidly growing high technology industry. We appreciate this important aspect and understand how to bring together its diverse stakeholders,” Stephan Wurzinger said.

Susan Harris said ITS Australia greatly appreciates the work done by Collaborative ITS Consulting Australia in assisting with the procurement process. “We also acknowledge the work of the Melbourne Convention Bureau for its role in helping ITS Australia to secure this event for Melbourne and for its ongoing marketing support.

“The 2001 ITS World Congress was successfully delivered by ITS Australia in Sydney. We look forward to making the 2016 World Congress an event that will help all cities and communities become more liveable and sustainable,” she said.
