DAVID BUTTNER

David Buttner was appointed President of Toyota Australia on 1 May 2014 and is responsible for all company operations, including the transition to a sales and distribution company when it ceases building cars by the end of 2017.

Prior to this, David was Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President responsible for the Corporate Services, Product Planning and Development, Sales and Marketing and Manufacturing and Purchasing operating arms of the company. He was also project leader of a company-wide taskforce established to strengthen the business so it remains sustainable in the future. 


Since joining Toyota in 1987, David has held various positions in manufacturing operations, production control, quality administration, production engineering, purchasing and sales and marketing.

He is committed to the guiding principles of ‘respect for people’ and ‘continuous improvement’, principles which underpin Toyota’s global operations.

In May 2015, David was appointed President of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.
