ITS Australia launches University competition to find future intelligent transport systems leaders

17 May 2016

ITS Australia has launched its first ever university competition to encourage Australian graduates to submit solutions for next generation intelligent transport systems (ITS). The lucky winners will be given the opportunity to attend the ITS World Congress 2016 – an event that brings the world’s leading ITS professionals together in Australia for the first time in over 15 years.

ITS Australia, the nation’s peak ITS industry body, is committed to supporting and recognising up and coming talent and future leaders and the university competition is an opportunity for students with a passion for intelligent transport systems to promote themselves, their university and their work.

ITS Australia invites university students to submit a 2,000 word essay, with optional video, for their chance to win complimentary entry to the five day event, along with $500 towards flights and accommodation. ITS Australia will host the World Congress at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Melbourne, 10-14 October.

Susan Harris, CEO ITS Australia says: "It’s exciting to launch our new competition and I encourage all universities across Australia to take part. Winners will hear the very latest in ITS innovations from world renowned keynote speakers. They’ll experience dynamic sessions, discover and explore new technologies and techniques as well as forge networks with Australian and international ITS professionals.

“We look forward to reading how university graduates think their future will look. We challenge them to tell us how they will move around, what their transport options will be and how they’ll work and live in cities and communities,” Ms Harris said.

As part of the prize, winners of the ITS Australia university essay competition will also join 10 students from Asia Pacific in an exclusive network of ITS young professionals, known as the ‘Future Innovators Club’.
